The PURE Edition is a Swiss Made product developed together with leading scientific institutions and includes various ground-breaking innovations to obtain a breakthrough in comfort and sound. Our goal was to develop a solution bringing both control and flexibility to the playing experience while reducing the necessary clamping force between shoulder and chin.
The PURE Edition (version for 4/4 violins) can be used by violinists playing without shoulder rest, as well as violinists who want to keep their current shoulder rest. It comes with a violin adapter and an ergonomic chinrest of your choice.
The violin adapter is equipped with a revolutionary clamping system, that prevents damages to the instrument and does not dampen your sound. Its integrated step-less height adjustment function (up to 10 mm) allows for an easy and precise fitting.
For the adapter size, please measure the width of your violin from the top plate to the bottom plate (see picture). Please check that the distance between the top plate and the backplate of your instrument measured vertically beneath the lower bridge falls within the range of 37mm - 47mm.
The chinrests are made of European FSC certified wood and extremely lightweight due to their patented bionic design. You can choose between four different shapes and two colours (black or brown). Two of our chinrests come with various heights (high or low).
VIENNA is created with a universal design that works for most violin and viola players. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 24mm – 34mm.
VIENNA LOW: Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 19mm – 29mm.
BERLIN has a broader lip which offers an extra hold, therefore often chosen by violists. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 25mm – 35mm.
BERLIN LOW: Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 20mm – 30mm.
VENEZIA is lower in height and is recommended for players with shorter necks. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 13mm–23mm.
LISBON works especially well for extreme left to middle playing positions and shorter necks. Gives an extra hold over the tailpiece. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 15mm – 25mm.
In addition to this wooden collection, we also offer the TOLEDO chinrest, which is made of antistatic black ABS. It is our full injection molded universal chinrest. We have designed it after our most popular model, the wooden VIENNA. In this new design, we have included all the user feedback from around the world to make it maybe the most universal chin rest we now offer. You can choose between either TOLEDO High (for longer necks, 24-34mm) or TOLEDO Low (for shorter necks, 19-29mm).
Looking for a special chinrest solution? See our collection of unique chinrest, e.g. ultra-lightweight (below 22g) or chinrests with special wood and polish as well as our offer for customized chinrests here.

Believe Our Users
After playing the Dolfinos System shoulder rest for more than a month I cannot imagine going back. I have found a positioning that equalizes and balances the anchor points while allowing for more shoulder mobility. Additionally, the sound is even more open and responsive than playing without a shoulder rest!
Zachary CarrettinViolinist & Music Director at Boulder Bach Festival
My investment in a DOLFINOS already paid off many times!
Gregory Maytan1st Concertmaster, Anhaltische Philharmonie, Dessau
My motivation is a rest system which doesn’t kill sound. For years I played without a rest for that reason, but I have a very long neck and it eventually became untenable for my body. I tried several rests and eventually chose the DOLFINOS because the sound I get with it is far and away bigger and better than with any other system.
Penny Wayne-ShapiroDirector Wayland School of Music LLC, United States
When I had my Carnegie Hall debut, the DOLFINOS Rest System really made a huge difference in sound, comfort and reliability.
Alma DeutscherAustria
Why I chose DOLFINOS: 1) No more pressure points on collarbone, 2) the instrument can vibrate completely freely, nothing disturbs the sound, which becomes bigger and freer
Lukas HufnaglAustria
After an operation of the left shoulder, a painful nerve disorder in my fingertips developed. Especially after long rehearsals and performances I struggled with severe problems. After a few weeks of using the DOLFINOS system, these limitations have completely disappeared and my entire posture has straightened up.
